Terms of Service

Last updated: May 4, 2026

By installing or using Echo (the "App"), you agree to these Terms.

What Echo is

Echo is a personal recording, transcription, and meeting-notes app. It runs entirely on your iPhone. There is no Echo account, no Echo server, and no Echo subscription.

Your responsibility for recording

You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of Echo complies with all applicable recording laws in your jurisdiction and the jurisdictions of anyone you record. Eleven U.S. states (California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Washington) require two-party consent for recording. Many countries have similar laws. You agree to:

Your data

Echo stores all data locally on your iPhone. You retain full ownership of your recordings, transcripts, and any data you generate using the App. We have no access to your data.

Third-party AI services

Echo can integrate with third-party AI services (Anthropic, DeepSeek, Deepgram) when you provide your own API key. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms. Echo is not responsible for the availability, content, or behavior of any third-party service.

API keys

You are responsible for any costs incurred from your use of third-party API keys you configure in Echo. Echo does not generate, charge for, or limit your API usage.

No warranty

Echo is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, that transcripts or AI-generated summaries will be accurate, or that recordings will not be lost or corrupted.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, in no event shall Echo or its developer be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of recordings, loss of business, loss of profits, or loss of data, arising from your use of the App.

Termination

You may stop using Echo at any time by deleting the App from your iPhone. Deletion removes all locally stored data — there is no recovery process.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

Changes

We may update these Terms. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance.
